The process is highly improvisational, often beginning with different generative points such as music, poetry, or objects. Using various dance scores, games, and tools, I wlork with structured improvisations that allow the group to develop a unique movement vocabulary informed by personal memories and experiences. This process enables improvised movement to transform into choreography. using elements like breath, energy flow, and the interconnectedness of ourselves in the natural world. Holding the space to be vulnerable allows us to dive ainto the complex structures and emotions expressed through movement. This project is rooted in community, collaborative choreography, and intergenerational playfulness. Group work is central to my creative flow, and these relationships engender an empathetic response in individuals, towards themselves and others, creating a rapport that then supports the
improvisations. Working this way can break through old patterns, discover more receptivity, and deep listening. Finding ways to move that they may not have realized was inside them. The group builds cohesion and can collaborate to make dances with each other and alone, in the studio or in the park, on the stage or on the steps. By building trusted spaces where participants feel safe to take creative risks, I cultivate participation that values process as much as product.
